Unknown winner has until Dec. 22 to claim $5,000 prize
BATON ROUGE, La. - Someone bought a lottery ticket that turned out to be worth $5,000 in a June 28 drawing. But, the Louisiana Lottery Corporation says the prize has never been claimed and will expire on Christmas day.
The corporation says in a Wednesday news release that the ticket matched four of the five white balls drawn in the June 28 Mega Millions game, as well as the yellow Mega Ball.
The winning ticket was purchased at the B-Kwick Food Mart on Carter Street in Vidalia.
The winner must claim the prize by close of business on Thursday, Dec. 22, due to the Lottery's holiday schedule.
Winners of the Lottery's draw-style games must claim their prize within 180 days of the drawing.
