Unidentified body found in Slaughter house fire
SLAUGHTER – Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire in Slaughter after firefighters found a man’s body inside a home Wednesday night.
Firefighters from the Bluff Creek Fire Protection district responded to a house fire at 9158 Sanford Lane just before 10 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters said they got there found a man’s body lying near a living room door.
Fire Marshal investigators said the body suffered "severe thermal injury" and was released to the East Feliciana Parish Coroner’s Office.
Investigators said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but have determined that the fire started in the living room of the house.

According to State Fire Marshals, the house did not have working utilities or smoke alarms.
