ULM naming Wickstrom new A.D.
MONROE - Louisiana-Monroe has decided to hire Brian Wickstrom as its new athletic director.
ULM President Nick Bruno says he will formally introduce Wickstrom in a media conference on campus on Tuesday.
Wickstrom has served as California-Riverside's athletic director since July 2011. He'll replace Bobby Staub, who announced in April that he'd be stepping down at the end of June.
Bruno says Wickstrom "has relevant experience and possesses a strong record of effective fundraising." Bruno also says he and Wickstrom share similar visions for the athletic department at ULM.
Wickstrom was one of three finalists selected by a search committee to interview with Bruno. The others were Josh Brooks, who is an associate athletic director at Georgia, and Texas-Pan American Athletic Director Chris King.
