ULL books ticket to the Big Dance with Sun Belt tourney win
NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana-Lafayette proved to be giant slayers in the Sun Belt tournament, toppling top-seeded Georgia State in the final in overtime and booking the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Ragin' Cajuns hit a layup with 1.4 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 72, and then Elfrid Payton had a steal and a layup that put the Cajuns up 80-77 late, helping secure the 82-81 win.
ULL now moves on to the NCAA tournament, where they'll be the #14 seed in the West Region, starting off against #3 Creighton at 2:10 pm on Friday in San Antonio.
