University of Louisiana-Lafayette baseball player William Long has been dismissed from the team after being arrested by police on a charge of second-degree battery for his alleged involvement in a fight.

Lafayette police say Long was arrested at 1:04 a.m. Monday when officers responded to a disturbance call.

Details about the disturbance were not released.

Long was a fifth-year senior third baseman/outfielder for the Ragin' Cajuns.
