UConn partying links twin national title victories
STORRS, CT - Partying on the UConn campus started Monday and regained momentum Tuesday following a second national championship title in less than 24 hours.
The women's basketball team beat Notre Dame 79-58 in Nashville, Tenn., on Tuesday, capturing a record ninth national title. The victory came a day after the men's team beat Kentucky 60-54 in Arlington, Texas, capturing their fourth NCAA title.
Campus police say students were mostly behaving Tuesday night, with just two arrests before midnight. Monday's crowd wasn't as tame. There were 36 arrests, mostly for alcohol-related offenses and minor vandalism.
But with twin national titles in the same year, fans were going to find ways to celebrate. UConn, which won both titles a decade ago, is the only Division I school that has accomplished that feat.
