UAW: Shreveport plant to resume production
SHREVEPORT, La. - General Motors Co. will resume production Monday at its Shreveport assembly plant after a weeklong shutdown.
Doug Ebey, head of the United Auto Workers local at the plant, said Friday that the 800 employees will resume their normal four-day work week.
The plant operates one 10-hour shift per production day.
GM makes the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado small pickups in Shreveport. GM shut the plant this week, citing a lack of parts because of the earthquake in Japan.
The company said it had ample supplies of both pickups.
