UALR edges Southern in OT, 85-82
BATON ROUGE - Will Neighbour came off the bench to score a game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead the University of Arkansas Little Rock to an 85-82 defeat of Southern University in overtime Friday night.
Neighbour went 8 of 15 from the field and 7 of 9 from the line. Josh Hagins was 7 of 12 from the field and hit four 3-pointers for a total of 19 points. It was Hagins' final 3-pointer with two seconds left in regulation that tied the score at 71 and sent the game into overtime.
Both teams struggled in the first period, leading to a 27-27 halftime score. Neighbour came out strong in the second period, carrying the Trojans (1-3) by scoring 10 points - including four free throws - within seven minutes to keep the score tight.
Yondarius Johnson led the Jaguars (1-5) with 18 points, including two crucial 3-pointers in the second period.
