U.S. 190 reopens in Port Allen, evacuation lifted
PORT ALLEN- All lanes are open on U.S. 190 at LA 983 (Bueche Road) in West Baton Rouge Parish.
U.S. 190 was closed Monday morning after an explosion and fire at the Air Liquide plant.
Crews extinguished the blaze Tuesday and are inspecting cylinders containing acetylene at the plant.
One person suffered minor injuries.
The mandatory evacuation for residents in a one-mile radius around the plant has been lifted.
As people begin returning to their homes, they are asked to inspect their property for debris from the fire. Anyone who locates any debris is asked not move it and call Air Liquide at 1-800-292-1155. A disposal crew will be sent to the area to dispose of it.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
