U-High pulls away from Southern Lab in 2nd half
The U-High Cubs needed a second half shutout from their defense in order to survive a scare from visiting Southern Lab in week two of the high school football season.
The Cubs took home the 19-6 win breaking a 6-6 tie at the half with a defensive score by Tre Jackson who raced in an interception for the final score of the game.
Both teams scored early in the first quarter and then struggled to move the ball again for much of the game.
The Cubs took the field missing their starting quarterback Manny Miles as well as linebacker/runningback Dylan Moses who were in street clothes with injuries.
In the second quarter Cubs running back Nic Brossette was ejected along with Southern Lab defender Karl Auzenne for fighting, however it appeared that neither player was doing more than continuing to block on a live play.
With Brossette out of the game, it was up to tailback Titus Nelson to carry the load on the ground. Nelson scored on a short touchdown rush after setting up the Cubs with great field position on a punt return.
