TX man arrested in Livingston Parish sex sting
A Texas man was arrested as part of an Internet sex sting in Livingston Parish.
26-year-old Ryan Michael Sims of Victoria, TX is accused of soliciting a police officer posing online as a 15-year-old girl for sex. He was arrested in Walker around 2:30 a.m. last Friday as part of a three-day operation set up by members of an Internet sex crimes task force.
According to police, Sims told them he had tried to meet another girl in Missouri, and when that meeting didn’t happen, he started chatting with the undercover officers online and drove to Louisiana that night.
The sting was part of a three-night undercover operation that police said also gave them enough evidence to arrest other people, who they said chatted and sometimes provided video of a sexual nature to undercover officers. The task force includes members of the Louisiana State Police, Walker Police and sheriff's deputies from Livingston, Tangipahoa and St. Landry's Parishes.
Sims is being held on a $50,000 bond at the Livingston Parish Detention Center, and officers said he could face federal charges because he crossed state lines to meet the undercover officers.
