GEISMAR – Two people have been arrested and two others are wanted after a gunfight on a street near a high school in Ascension Parish earlier this week.

Kentrell Lewis, 26, and Jyvariel Harvey, 20, turned themselves in to authorities Monday evening. Police are still searching for Jonathan Darville, 25, and Javante Haynes, 22 in connection with the Monday shooting in the Geismar area.

Deputies were dispatched to investigate gunshots at a residence on Carrie Lane Monday morning. Upon arrival, Police found one male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.

Police say that the victim and four other males got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Haynes pulled out a handgun and shot the victim multiple times before the four men left the scene.

Lewis was charged with attempted second-degree murder. Harvey was charged with attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm.

Both were booked into Ascension Parish Jail.

In a frustrated interview Monday, the sheriff likened the altercation to “gangsters with guns” taking out their aggression on each other.
