Two teachers accused of sex with student
KENNER - Authorities accused a second teacher from Destrehan High School Wednesday of having sex with a 16-year-old student.
Kenner Police said Rachel Respess, 24, of Kenner turned herself in to charges of carnal knowledge involving a juvenile, indecent behavior, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The arrest comes a day after police arrested Shelley Dufrense, 34, from Destrehan High School for having sex with the same student. She is currently under house arrest.
Respess was accompanied by attorney Jeffrey Smith when she turned herself in to authorities. Smith told the media that the student turned 17, and was no longer considered a minor, four days after the incident took place.
The school system released a statement Wednesday saying they fully cooperated with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office once they were aware of the allegations against the two teachers. The school said both teachers were suspended without pay.
