Two raids, four arrests in synthetic drug seizures
BATON ROUGE - Deputies raided two businesses, found synthetic drugs and cash and arrested four people in separate incidents the department said Thursday night.
About 218 pounds of synthetic marijuana was found at The Lotus Shop on O'Neal Lane. The owner, Tim Nguyen, also allowed deputies to search his vehicle and home where they found more illegal synthetics and cash totaling $34,304. Nguyen was charged with possession with intent to distribute and distribution. Tien Hoang faces distribution charges related to the search, too.
In another search, this one at the Fun Times Shop on Hewwood, just more than 21.5 pounds of synthetic marijuana was found along with a gun and a stolen pistol. Cash and drug-related devices were also found. Khatara Smith and Vangades Chew faces a series of drug and weapons charges related to the search.
