Two people found dead inside sunken car
ST. JAMES PARISH - A single vehicle crash took the lives of two people in St. James Parish.
48 year old Matthew Daigle and 54 year old Terri Deslatte were found dead inside a submerged car off of Highway 61 south of I-10.
According to State Police, a witness called early Tuesday morning to report the accident. Investigators found that Daigle was driving when the vehicle ran off the roadway, crossed over northbound lanes and entered into a bayou south of Blind River.
Police say Daigle and Deslatte sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Driver impairment is unknown, but a toxicology sample was taken from Daigle. Excessive speed is considered to be a factor in the crash.
