GONZALES –  Deputies in Ascension Parish charged two people with multiple drug charges and seized $3,500 in methamphetamine after an arrest Wednesday.

Detectives said they received an anonymous tip that someone was selling large amounts of meth. Narcotics agents said as they were investigating the tip they followed 29-year-old David Duplessis Jr. and 21-year-old Tori Orillion to a hotel. There, agents said Duplessis parked illegally and officers detained them in order to search the vehicle.

According to the APSO, detectives searched the vehicle and found a handgun, the narcotics suboxone and methamphetamine, as well as drug packaging and around $2,500 in cash. Detectives said they also searched the hotel room where the two were staying and found a scale and other drug paraphernalia.

Deputies charged Duplessis with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and Suboxone, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, illegal carrying of weapons and stopping or parking outside business or residence districts. APSO said Duplessis also has a lengthy criminal history and has been arrested over 15 times for charges from theft, burglary and drug charges.

Detectives charged Orillion with having drug paraphernalia for prohibited acts, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute Suboxone, and illegal carrying of weapons.

Both Duplessis and Orillion were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail Wednesday. APSO said no bond has been set yet.
