Two pedestrians killed in Tangipahoa Parish crash
HUSSER, La. - Two female pedestrians were killed after being struck by a vehicle on LA 1062 Saturday morning.
Charlotte Woods Ross, 32, and Angel Simmons, 28, were walking in the center of LA 1062’s eastbound travel lane around 4 a.m., when a vehicle being driven by Katy Robertson, 26, struck both people.
According to State Police, Robertson left the scene and called a friend for help. She told the friend that she had hit a deer.
Robertson's friend returned to the scene to discover the bodies of the victims. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.
Robertson was placed under arrest under suspicion of DWI. She provided a voluntary breath sample, which was .135% BAC.
She was subsequently booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on two counts of Vehicular Homicide.
