Two more suspects identified in shootout
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies identified two more men wanted in connection with an April shootout in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Spokesperson Casey Hicks said deputies are looking for 22-year-old Christopher Jamal Bennett and 20-year-old Dalvis Joshua Nixon for being principal to attempted first-degree murder. Deputies previously arrested 53-year-old Michael West and 21-year-old Deandre Nixon for attempted first-degree murder as part of the same shooting.
Investigators said on April 25 the Nixons and Bennett drove by West while he was parked just off of Jones Creek Road. Deputies said West and Nixon exchanged gun fire as the car drove past.
A witness at the scene later told investigators Barrett and the Nixons set out to rob West and they had parked to try and get help when the shooting happened.
Authorities later accused West of taking part in gas station robberies in both East and West Baton Rouge parishes, kidnapping a store clerk during the robbery in West Baton Rouge.
Anyone with information about this shooting or the whereabouts of the suspects should call the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office at (225) 389-5000.
