BATON ROUGE - LSU offensive lineman Vadal Alexander and cornerback Jalen Collins were each named to the Freshman All-SEC Team as voted on by the league's coaches, the SEC office announced Thursday.

Alexander has played in all 12 games with eight starts at right tackle for the Tigers. He ranks second on the team in knockdown blocks with 47.5 in 609 snaps this season. Alexander recorded a season-high 11.5 knockdowns in 76 plays against Ole Miss, and he led the team with 7.5 knockdowns in the regular season finale at Arkansas.

Collins has seen action in 12 games with one start at Texas A&M. He is tied with Eric Reid for second on the team with six pass breakups, and he has recorded two interceptions along with 28 total tackles this season.

Collins picked off Johnny Manziel to set up LSU's first touchdown in the Tigers' 24-19 win at Texas A&M on Oct. 20, and he earned his second INT of the season in LSU's 41-35 victory against Ole Miss on Nov. 17.

No. 8 LSU (10-2) will wrap up the 2012 season by taking on No. 14 Clemson (10-2) in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31 in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
