Two men were injured during a boating accident on Belle River. It happened between Assumption and St. Martin Parishes early Sunday morning.

Officials with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office say Derek Domingue, 26, and Kenneth Landry Jr., 37, were boating down Belle River to go hunting. The boat hit an object in the water, believed to be a log, causing the motor to fly off into the boat hitting both passengers.

Domingue suffered a crushed hand and Landry suffered a severe cut to his ankle. Both victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating the accident.
