Two houses lost in fire
BATON ROUGE - Two houses on the 600 block of Education St. in Old South Baton Rouge have been ruled a total loss after a fire around 12:00 p.m. Saturday, according to Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Robert Combs.
Combs says the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen area of the first house and then entered the attic. Significant damge was caused by fire and water causing it to be considered a total loss of $40,000.
The fire extended to a second house and entered its attic also. Fire, heat and smoke damage throughout this house resulted in a total loss of $40,000 as well, according to Combs.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
