Two dead, one in critical condition after I-10 accident

Two people are dead and one is in critical condition after an accident that occurred on I-10 around 9:50 p.m. yesterday.

Mississippi State Police said 21-year-old Elden K. Cox, Jr., Denham Springs, was the driver of a 1998 Toyota 4runner and was traveling westbound on I-10 when the vehicle’s right rear tire blew out, causing it to run off the left side of the ride and roll over several times. He and 22-year-old Tyler Scott Brewer, Denham Springs, were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

21-year-old Chase K. Richard, Baton Rouge, was transported to Ochsner in New Orleans and is in critical condition.

18-year-old Kelsi A. Wallin and 20-year-old Eleisa R. Wallin, both of Baton Rouge, were transported to Slidell Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Police said no one was wearing seatbelts. The accident took place on the Mississippi/Louisiana state line in Hancock County.
