Two dead in head-on crash
WALKER - Two people died and a rural highway in Livingston Parish was closed for hours Thursday after a head-on collision.
The wreck happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Walker South Road about a mile south of I-12.
Investigators said the only people affected by the crash were the drivers of the two vehicles, and both died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Video of the crash scene, photographed by a WBRZ News 2 photojournalist, showed two cars with significant damage to the front ends, facing each other.
The highway, La. 447, is a two-laned highway.
"That could have been me ten minutes ago," a witness told WBRZ as he choked up. "I hate to see life go away. Two people died for no reason," the man, who only asked be identified as Ali, said.
50 year old Lloyd R. Hutson, Jr. of Jackson, LA and 76 year old Raymond C. Bender were the drivers of the cars. State Police say neither was buckled-up at the time of the crash.
