Two dead after car crash in Tangipahoa
HAMMOND – State Police say two people are dead after a crash on LA 1064 in Tangipahoa Parish Saturday afternoon.
According to Louisiana State Police, 72-year-old Rita Adams was turning west from Rufus Bankston Road onto LA 1064 when she was struck by a pickup truck. Police say Adams and her 97-year-old mother, Myrtis Jones, were transported to North Oaks Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck, 30-year-old William Holton and a passenger, 31-year-old Kayla Olah both suffered minor injuries.
Investigators say all occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Impairment and speed are not considered factors of the crash.
