Two banks robbed in two hours
BATON ROUGE - Authorities in East Baton Rouge reported two bank robberies within two hours of each other this morning.
Baton Rouge Police said the first happened around 9 a.m. at the Chase Bank inside Albertson's Grocery on College Drive just up from Perkins Road.
Then at 11 a.m., the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said someone robbed the Regions Bank on Siegen, about a half block up from Perkins.
In both instances, investigators said a man walked up to the tellers and handed them a note demanding money before fleeing on foot. Sheriff's deputies said the note from the Regions Bank robber claimed he had a gun, though the teller never saw a weapon.
The robber at Chase Bank was described as a black male around 30 years old, about 5' 7" tall and weighing 210 pounds, wearing a black shirt and khaki pants.
The Regions Bank robber was also described as a black male around 30-35 years old, weighing 180 to 200 pounds and around 5' 9" tall. Investigators said he was also wearing a long black wig, a navy blue hat, white thermal-type shirt with navy blue shirt over it, dark-colored pants, and gray gloves.
Anyone with information about these robberies should call EBRSO at (225) 389-5000, or the BRPD Armed Robbery Division at (225) 389-3845.
