Two at large after deadly robbery, shooting
LAPLACE - Sheriff's deputies said two people are still at large after a deadly shooting and robbery at a LaPlace store.
Sheriff Mike Tregre held a press conference Wednesday morning, saying the pair went into the LaPlace Feed and Supply store Tuesday afternoon and asked about shots for a dog. Tregre said they were told to leave, and then came back later to rob the store.
Investigators said they shot and killed Steven Finckbeiner, 63, and injured his wife, 58-year-old Constance Finckbeiner. The sheriff said surveillance video caught one of the robbers running away with the store's cash register.
Tregre also had a message for the robbers.
"My advice to the perpetrators should they see the broadcast, or the families of perpetrators (see videos) and they know they're involved in this case, turn yourself in," Tregre said.
WWL-TV reports that investigators did question two people after the shooting Tuesday, but neither was charged.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office TIPS line at 985-359-8477.
