Two arrested, one sought in Gonzales shooting
GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies arrested two suspects and are searching for one other in connection with a shooting overnight in an Ascension Parish subdivision.
Deputies accused 20-year-old Emery Young Jr. of Gonzales with eight counts of attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. Deputies said 18-year-old Deangelo Kinchen turned himself in and is facing charges for the same crimes.
Lt. Col. Bobby Webre with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said just before 11 p.m. Monday deputies were called out for a report of shots fired in the area of Josh Brown Road and Leola Carter Road in the Bishop Woods Subdivision. Deputies said they found an SUV near the subdivision with three people injured from gunshots.
Investigators said before they arrived eight people in the SUV were involved in an argument with Young, Kinchen and another person. Deputies said Young and Kinchen opened fire on the SUV, which fled the scene and drove until the vehicle's tire blew out from being hit with a bullet.
Deputies said Young and Kinchen shot the people in the SUV because of a wreck which happened about six months ago. They said the case is still under investigation and more charges may be pending.
Anyone with information about the third suspect's identity or about this shooting should call the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to the APSO's anonymous tip line.
