Two arrested in BR murder investigation
BATON ROUGE - Police accused two people Tuesday of shooting a man in the head and leaving him dead in the street in Baton Rouge.
Cpl. Don Coppola said police arrested 19-year-old Corey Handy and 20-year-old Cody Sanders late Monday night and charged them with killing 20-year-old Cameron Matthews.
Investigators said the three men were in a car on East Grant Street early Monday morning when Handy and Sanders got into an argument with Matthews. Police said Handy got Matthews out of the car, gave Sanders a gun and told him to shoot Matthews.
Police said after the shooting Handy and Sanders left the area, leaving Matthews dead in the street. Officers later found Handy and Sanders in their car and brought them in for questioning, which is when investigators said the pair confessed to the shooting.
Officers charged Handy and Sanders with second-degree murder and booked them into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail.
