BATON ROUGE - Police arrested two men this week accused of beating an off-duty Baton Rouge Police officer during an argument last month.

Investigators arrested Anthony and Joshua Tamburello of LaPlace in connection with the altercation Aug. 19 at the Highland Village Condominiums.

Police said the officer approached a group of men including the suspects who were making a disturbance at the condos. He didn't have a uniform on, but told them he was a police officer.

According to the arrest warrant, the men attacked the officer and knocked him down, then started kicking him hard enough to break his leg.

The Tamburellos were booked on one count each of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer. Anthony Tamburello was also charged with interfering with a law enforcement investigation, while Joshua Tamburello was also charged with rioting.
