CONVENT-  Two Lutcher High School graduates were behind bars in St. James Parish Tuesday night accused of setting the fire that destroyed that school's football stadium in November.

21-year-old Adam Lambert is charged with arson.  18-year-old Lindsey Matherne is charged with accessory to arson.

Authorities say they suspected Lambert from the start and had questioned him several times.  But the final attempt to talk to Lambert, at his trailer next door to the courthouse, led officers to find stolen property from an Ascension Parish burglary, and a meth lab in the making.

Authorities say once he was in jail for drugs, he confessed to the fire.

School officials say the arrest is closure for the community that will allow it to move forward.  Demolition of the stadium should start in the next two weeks and be complete by the end of February.

A $1.5 million replacement stadium is expected to break ground in March and be ready for football season in August.

Lambert faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted on the arson charge.  Four others were arrested when cops busted the meth lab.
