BATON ROUGE - Police arrested two armed men after they said the pair robbed a smoke shop near the LSU campus.

Lt. Don Kelly said officers arrested Darren Douglas Brown, 19, and Christian Rasha Lamotte, 22, after stopping their vehicle and finding evidence from the robbery inside.

Kelly said two masked men robbed the Hi-Life Wonderland store on State Street north of LSU around 11 p.m. Tuesday. One was armed with a shotgun, the other with a handgun. He said the pair took money and items from the store, then took off in a white car.

Witnesses called police, who stopped the vehicle in the 5900 block of Airline Highway. Kelly said both men were taken into custody, and officers found items from the robbery in the car as well.

Brown and Lamotte were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on armed robbery charges.
