Two arrested after deputies find neglected, dead dogs
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies in Terrebonne Parish arrested two people for cruelty to animals after dead or malnourished dogs were found at their property.
Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois said his office had been tipped off about the cruelty yesterday, and found one dead pit bull and four other neglected pit bulls at the property on Bayouside Drive. Investigators said the dogs had not been fed, and were covered in filth.
A deputy questioned the owners, brother and sister Monique and Brandon White, about the animals' condition and said they couldn't explain why they were in such poor health.
Terrebonne Parish animal control took the dead and neglected dogs away. Monique White, 24, was charged with four counts of cruelty to animals, while Brandon White, 17, was charged with one count of cruelty to animals. Both remain in jail on a $100,000 bond.
