Two accused of attempted murder in home invasion
GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies arrested two men in connection with a home invasion in Gonzales this past weekend.
Lt. Col. Bobby Webre said Ascension Parish deputies accused 22-year-old Patrick Austin and 23-year-old Edward "Willie" Scott III of home invasion and attempted first-degree murder.
Detectives said they were called to a residence on Chick Duplessis Road in Gonzales early Sunday morning for reports of a home invasion and shooting. Deputies said the homeowners were awakened by a noise, and when the male homeowner went to investigate he saw Austin and Scott in the hall of his residence.
The deputies said Scott pulled out a gun and shot the homeowner, who is in guarded condition at a local hospital. Detectives later identified Austin and Scott as the suspects, and arrested them Monday.
Deputies booked both men into the parish prison on the above charges. Scott is also charged with illegal use of a weapon.
