Twitter announced Thursday that it will be discontinuing its popular mobile app that allows users to share short snippets of video.

In a statement Thursday afternoon, Twitter said that Vine will be discontinued “in the coming months.”

The social media giant said that the website will remain online for now. Users can still view and download their videos.

“We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made,” the statement said.

Vine was founded in June 2012 and was acquired by Twitter in October that same year.
