One of Louisiana's most troublesome spring shrimp seasons came to a close with many shrimpers getting little chance to fish because of the BP oil spill.
Waters to the relatively untroubled west, and the few places east of the Mississippi River not shut down due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, will remain open.
Shrimping Zone 2, which includes waters from the eastern shore of the Mississippi River's South Pass to the western shore of Vermilion Bay and Southwest Pass at Marsh Island, will shut down Monday at 6 a.m.
For hundreds of shrimpers it has been a non-season anyway.
They have been dockside because of the spill.
