Tulane hires Saints receivers coach Curtis Johnson

NEW ORLEANS - Curtis Johnson says it's a dream come true to get his first head coaching job in his hometown and at a university he always admired.

Johnson, who was formally introduced Monday as Tulane's new coach, says he understands what it takes to win on the highest levels of football and predicts that the Green Wave will play for trophies in coming seasons.

Johnson has been the New Orleans Saints wide receivers coach since 2006, and Tulane has agreed to let Johnson remain with the Saints through this season.

Johnson wore his Saints Super Bowl ring on one hand and a college national championship ring he won as a Miami assistant on the other.

Saints coach Sean Payton says Tulane made a great decision and is lucky to have Johnson.
