Homeowners took to the microphone during a public hearing concerning a truck stop casino in St. Gabriel.
More than a hundred people showed to voice their concerns to the City Council about safety, quality of life and future growth. Many residents do not want the truck stop in their back yard, which would about a mile from East Baton Rouge Parish on the north side of the city.
Comments from the community came after three companies presented proposals for their businesses. The layout would be similar to truck stop casino already on the south side of St. Gabriel, along Highway 30.
The mayor told the crowd he believes the issue is already dead, but council won't officially vote it until next Thursday's meeting.
