OPELOUSAS - Louisiana State Police have seized more than 15 pounds of cocaine in a traffic stop on Interstate 49 at Opelousas.
Troopers stopped a 2004 Ford F-150 Sunday morning on I-49 southbound at U.S. Highway 190. After getting permission from the truck's driver to search the vehicle, troopers found the drugs.
Booked into the St. Landry Parish jail on a charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and improper lane use was 21-year-old Virginia Garcia. Also booked with possession with intent to distribute cocaine was 33-year-old Manuel Gama. Both are from Houston.
State police said Monday that the seized cocaine has an estimated street value of over $152,000.
