PORT VINCENT - Louisiana State Police are investigating a hit and run crash that left an Ascension Parish woman brain-dead, according to her family.
22-year-old Crisy Hadley is on life support at a local hospital after the incident Monday night. Her brother Matthew said he was walking with her around 11:30 p.m. on LA 42 when a silver SUV came along and struck her so hard, she flew twenty feet before hitting the ground.
Matthew said the driver didn't stop.
"To see your older sister just thrown into the air and then some heartless person just knowing he hit somebody... how could he keep going?" he said.
Troopers say the vehicle is a silver Toyota 4Runner, with a model year between '03 and '05. The vehicle's right front fender flare and the right lower corner of the front bumper are missing, and the right side mirror is also missing.
Investigators said they are working several leads, but the family hopes the driver will turn themselves in.
"Somebody's gotta know something," said Hadley's mother, Monica Chambles. "They took my daughter's life. I can't get my daughter back, and they should do the right thing and turn themselves in."
Anyone with information regarding this hit and run is urged to call LSP Troop A at (225)754-8500.
