Trina Edwards defends "The Governor's Wife"
BATON ROUGE - The wife of former Governor Edwin Edwards took to social media Tuesday to refute speculation the A&E reality show "The Governor's Wife" had been canceled.
Instead of its usual Sunday night slot, the show was moved up almost to midday Sunday and all remaining episodes ran back-to-back the same day.
"The show WAS NOT cancelled," Edwards posted on her Facebook page. "There were only 8 episodes. They all aired. The season is over."
She also posted a portion of a statement she said was from the network, which said A&E was looking for "other opportunities" for the series.
"I'm incredibly excited about what's actually going on," Edwards said.
The series had lost tens of thousands of viewers since its premiere. The episodes which aired Sunday covered the former governor's release from parole through the birth of his son Eli.
