A trial date of July 12 has been set for former Richwood Mayor Ed Harris, who faces a charged of
malfeasance.

State District Court Judge Wilson Rambo also set on Thursday a preliminary hearing for any motions June 21.

Harris had entered a not guilty plea Sept. 10.

The charge against 67-year-old Harris stems from payments the mayor made to some town employees and himself during the last hours of his administration in June 2008.

Just days before leaving office, Harris allegedly wrote checks totaling nearly $90,000 to himself and employees for severance packages and unused vacation, both of which are prohibited by state
law.
