BATON ROUGE - Many people in Baton Rouge are already shedding their holiday decor, and looking for a place to toss their Christmas tree.
Several drop-off locations opened the day after Christmas to accept waste trees, which will be mulched or composted.
The following drop-off collection sites will continue to accept trees through Monday, January 28, 2013.
Some locations are not open on New Year's Day, but others have dumpsters where trees can be dropped off.
Allied Waste will also collect Christmas trees placed on the curb between Jan. 7 and Jan. 20. Residents should remove tinsel, metal stands, lights, and ornaments from trees before recycling them, and place them separate from other woody waste.
For more information, call the EBR Recycling Office at (225) 389-5194.
