Tree falls on MS home, kills toddler
MCCOMB, Miss. - A three-year-old was killed and her parents hurt when a tree was blown onto their home in McComb, Miss. early this morning.
Police Chief Gregory Martin said the large oak tree demolished the front half of the home when it fell around 5:30 a.m., clipping the bedroom where Jabrel Branch was sleeping with her parents, Chaquanna Miller and Jeremy Branch.
Martin said Branch was pronounced dead at the scene, and that her parents had been pinned by the tree and had to be rescued before they were taken to a local hospital.
He said the storm blew down trees and damaged five other homes in that same area. No one else was injured.
