BATON ROUGE - There is a blame game going on since some neighborhoods did not get trash collected this week.

Residents are frustrated, but the city said it's their fault since vehicles were parked, blocking waste trucks.

In the Beau Pre neighborhood near LSU, Allied Waste trucks couldn't navigate through the streets and were forced to turn around, leaving everyone's trash behind.

"The trash is still here," said Beau Pre resident Manny Flores. "I'm trying to take out more trash and it's just like, piling up."

Allied Waste picks up about 30,000 trashcans every day, but a good chunk of them are left full.

"They could not get past them," said DPW Environmental Engineer Bob Hearn. "They had to just back up out of the subdivision and finish the other parts of the route."

DPW says it's because many people park their cars on the street or place their trash cans too close to cars or mailboxes.  DPW says if you know it's your pickup day, move your car off the street and place your trash can away from any objects.

If you have a problem with your trash, or if your trash can is broken, call 311.
