LIVINGSTON- A man has been cited with illegal dumping, after officials discovered he dumped a trailer into a swamp near the Tickfaw River.

WBRZ was first at the scene Tuesday evening, when law enforcement and environmental officials went out to the property on Perrin Ferry Road.

"I heard it was a house dumped into the river," said Jim Morris, who rides his boat regularly along the Tickfaw.

Wednesday afternoon Livingston officials said they found the trailer in a swamp a few feet away from the river and confirm it did not touch the river.

"No,  it never got into the waterway it was just a little swampy area between the waterway and the land," said Mark Harrell with the Livingston Parish Office of Homeland and Emergency Preparedness.

The property owner, identified as Lloyd Hutchinson, has been cited with illegal dumping.

Residents of this river community, like Chase Pomares, say it was a close call and are glad the debris didn't get into the river.

"We go out there to catch fish we don't go out there to catch houses," Pomares said.
