Traffic stop at LSU leads to arrests
BATON ROUGE - LSU Police arrested three people after a traffic stop Friday in connection with a number of robberies and burglaries around the area.
Police arrested Jacob M. Washington, 20; Breanna Peyton Vince, 18, and Eric Shane Washington, 22, after the traffic stop around 3:20 a.m. Friday.
LSUPD said an officer noticed the car, which was registered to Eric Washington, matched the description of a vehicle used in a campus purse snatching on Sept. 30. They said Baton Rouge Police also told them it matched a vehicle used in another robbery in the State Street area.
Investigators said a search of the vehicle turned up items stolen from a vehicle burglary reported Oct. 3, and victims from that crime and the purse snatching described the three suspects as being the ones involved in the thefts.
Police booked all three suspects into the parish jail. Jacob Washington face charges of second degree burglary of a vehicle and illegal possession of a stolen firearm. Vince faced charges of burglary of a vehicle, and Eric Washington faced second degree robbery and improper lane usage charges.
