Traffic poses problems on I-10 Sunday
BATON ROUGE - Throughout the afternoon and into the evening Sunday night, traffic on I-10 is backed up in various spots.
Sunday afternoon, parts of I-10 Westbound all the way to the Mississippi River Bridge had traffic stopped, causing the interstate to look like a parking lot. Department of Transportation told News2 a high volume of traffic on the roadways caused the back up.
Eastbound traffic was not immune to slow downs. A disabled vehicle temporarily slowed traffic down.
Going into Sunday evening it was I-10 Westbound traffic near LA 415 and Grosse Tete was slowed because of an accident. DOTD has reported that the accident was moved to the shoulder of the road, but congestion still remained.
Next weekend, bridge inspection on the Mississippi River Bridge will shut down the outside lane eastbound.
