Roads closed, traffic gridlocked as storms pass through Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE - As severe weather passes over Baton Rouge, drivers traveling on the interstates can expect to have serious traffic delays.
DOTD officials say a stalled tractor trailer blocked the left lane on I-10 west on the Mississippi River Bridge. Congestion from that incident backed up traffic to College Drive.
The right lane on I-12 West was blocked near Essen Lane due to a vehicle recovery. DOTD says all lanes are open on I-12 at that location, but congestion reached Airline Highway.
Congestion remains on I-10 East from Highland Road to LA 73 (Prairievlle) due to an accident off the roadway at MM169 and inclement weather.— Baton Rouge Traffic (@BR_Traffic) March 10, 2016
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office reported that South Blvd. near the interstate was closed and Sherwood Common Blvd. at Airline Highway was closed due to high water on the roadways.
