HAMMOND - Sheriff's deputies arrested a Tangipahoa Parish man after they said he hid in an acquaintance's home and then raped her at knifepoint.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards said deputies arrested Michael A. Taylor, 49, of Independence this past Friday.

Investigators said the night before, Taylor broke into an Amite home and hid until the homeowner arrived. As she walked into the bathroom, investigators said Taylor grabbed her threatened to kill her with a knife, then forced himself on her several times before fleeing.

Edwards said the victim knew Taylor for several months prior to the incident, and deputies arrested him the next morning.

Deputies booked Taylor into the parish jail in suspicion of false imprisonment, aggravated burglary and aggravated rape.
