BATON ROUGE - One LSU Instructor is spearheading a supply drive for people who've lost everything in her hometown of Tuscaloosa.

LSU Communications Instructor ReRe Pride Shaw left from a visit to Alabama just three hours before the deadly tornadoes hit last week. She said seeing the disaster on the news and personally knowing people affected motivated her to do something about it.

Shaw started a Facebook community organization page called The Baton Rouge Tuscaloosa Tornado Relief Donation and asked all of her friends for help. Within a week, two shipments of much-needed donations were sent to Tuscaloosa, but Shaw said those supplies hardly put a dent in the relief effort because the need is so great.

You can give to Shaw's relief effort by going to one of two drop off sites -

  • First United Methodist Church, 900 North Street
  • The Bocage Racquet club, 7600 Jefferson Highway
